Nutrition Sites & Valuable Blogs – June 2015 Update
I haven’t posted about nutrition/health websites/blogs on our community page in awhile. My Bad. Some of me newbs reminded me. Thanks guys. I’m sure there are some new ones as well (post them below) but here are 12 goodies in my bookmark browser for:
- Nutrition Support & Education,
- Meal and Snack Ideas,
- Relevant up to date Discussions and Debate over how we Understand Food, Body, Health, Vitality and Longevity.
1. Mark’s Daily Apple – Mark Sisson and his team writes about living a primal lifestyle in a modern world. It was this site that really got me interested in nutrition 8 years ago. He’s the author of, The Primal Blueprint, which is written for individuals looking for weight loss, improved health, and more energy through a primal diet.
2. Chris Kresser – Chris Kresser is licensed acupuncturist and practitioner of integrative medicine. He started in 2008 to help spread the word about health myths promoted by the media and the medical establishment. I’m a sceptic.
3. Robb Wolf – Robb Wolf, our good friend – wrote The Paleo Solution – The Original Human Diet. His blog includes posts about living a paleo lifestyle and training. It also links to Robb’s well-known Paleo Solution Podcast. Always worth a listen.
4. Balanced Bites – Balanced Bites offers recipes, advice, podcasts, nutrition facts, and those Easy 1 Page Guides to high quality foods, what should be in the pantry, good fats/bad fats/etc..
5. Whole Nine – The Whole Nine website and blog is maintained by Dallas and Melissa Hartwig. The dietary recommendations that they make are based on the paleo diet but put a greater emphasis on diet rather than on what happened in the Palaeolithic era.
6. Hunt Gather Love – Melissa McEwen says she’s not “Paleo,” her writing and reviews of recently published books is often the reason I visit. She talks a lot about evolutionary biology and the Paleo/Primal lifestyle.
7. Free the Animal – Free the Animal is about “Expressing Your Primal Genes for Leanness, Health and Vitality.” Guys will love it.
8. The Clothes Make the Girl – This is for the ladies. Melissa Joulwan – In her own words, “I’m on a mission to be a superfit, well-fed, dressed-to-kill, glossy-haired, rock-n-roll, tart-tongued detective.” She has “Dino-Chow” (her word for Paleo) recipes, but also gives a tonne of inspiration for everyday life and functional workouts anywhere.
9. Everyday Paleo – Everyday Paleo has number of contributors, all of whom have first-hand experience living a paleo lifestyle. The majority of the recipes on the blog are posted by Sarah Fragoso (Also has a great book out – Same name), who writes about preparing more family-friendly Paleo meals.
10. Perfect Health Diet – Perfect Health Diet’s writers, Paul Jaminet and Mr. Shih, are passionate about the Paleo diet and Everything Health – Especially how they healed their own health issues through good diet. Both these guys are scientists, which you’ll soon understand in their writing and references to 1000’s of studies.
11. Whole Health Source – It’s deep into the all the Food / FDA / and Marketing BullSh*t. Stephen Guyenet, is a researcher in the field of obesity. His posts tend toward the scientific side of nutrition and health.
12. Paleohacks – Ask and search for anything Paleo related here. Also have a pretty good podcast which chats about the latest trends and ideas.
Enjoy and Educate yourself,
