Once a year, it is good for the soul to try something new.
Last year, EZE did something completely foreign to her: Competition.
“For someone that has been around CFV for 7 years, loves the social aspect, the circle questions, the hugs and the love… Nutts Cup was a huge stretch for me. 100% outside of my comfort zone. I dislike competing, at anything, to the point that I get anxious at the thought of playing tag. Saying that, last year in a moment of feeling brave I signed up for Nutts Cup without a team–just on my own, scared.
“I knew I had a great opportunity to get the MLYW involved in the actual competition of Nutts Cup, I knew it was outside of my comfort zone to compete in any fashion, what I didn’t know was how inspiring it would be to work out alongside the LANYAR kids. As I write this almost 10 months after Nutts Cup my eyes tear up… we strive to create a community where all are welcome, where the MLYW can turn to, a place where quality role models are plentiful, a school where lessons are taught and learnt. Little did I know it was the youth we have been working so hard to inspire who taught me so much.
“We came in last, poured our hearts out, struggled through movements, learnt bar muscle ups on the fly, learnt how to climb a rope between wods… all the while we remained focused on the goal: Have Fun, Make a Difference.”
“It was one of the best life-changing days I have ever had.”
“If you are thinking Nutts cup is not for you, competition is not your thing, you’re not strong enough, fast enough, good enough… Stop It! You (we) are what Nutts Cup is about. Give back, have fun, be you, celebrate the beauty you bring to the community.”
As Andy’s motto says every day on our wall:
Life Life to the Fullest. Make a Difference.
