We’ve said it many times to everyone around us but this will be DRAFT 1 from THE BEAR, which will open the discussion and tackle why many of us come inside the doors at MadLab School of Fitness and start experiencing a journey towards many various goals and staying there.   I believe our retention is so high because many of us veterans do this in large part for better longevity.

Instead of thinking longevity as your ‘typical length of life’ which it is… I want to coin a word that means optimizing your Physical Health, Fitness, Vitality and Quality of Life.  Thoughts?

So ask yourself and your loved ones – Where is your overall fitness, health, well being and quality of life?

Of course, investing in your health is one of the only guaranteed investments in your life. We well understand that a little time, effort and mental toughness will do wonders for your fitness.

Every introduction I do at MadLab starts with a little discussion on this. This awareness of Optimizing & Balancing our future & potential health, well-being, Quality of Life and Fitness. What’s happened in the past with those individuals?  What are we dealing with as far as injuries and current limitations in movement….and then we go forth on the path of enlightenment, awareness, engagement and so forth as we begin to move, talk, video and perform various physical tasks to allow us to get to a better place.

I love the person that comes in and explains 21 injuries, 8 surgeries and thinks this or that of “Moose-Crotch” or this approach to Fitness within our MadLab doors may not be for them.

I solemnly disagree. Everyone is entitled to move and learn.  Know that coming in new means that you must accept that other people have it better and that is an important part of the MadLab journey.images

We don’t want to go to the Old Folks Home anytime soon.

Always think long term Health and Fitness.  We strive for a fitness level that allows us to stay very active into our later years without or with little or reduced pain, inflammation, creaky joints and crankiness.

Paraphrasing Robb Wolf…. We’re striving to always look, feel and perform better (what a simple good long term goal)

Inside our MadLab doors we’ve grown over the past 10 years from developing & doing XFit to a School of Fitness and now more and more to a performance center for conquering better movement (we need mobility and physical freedom to get there), increasing our ability to perform many more physical tasks with a bigger more efficient engine within our frame.  We need to check and improve our diet, consult with Nutritionists, Osteopaths, Doctors, Surgeons, Physical Therapists, Massage Therapists, Chiropractors and Specialists in all arena’s of sport and movement.

I’ve been here nearly 10 years moving from goal to goal year after year.  Again if you didn’t know, I started with a broken back, a depressed mood and in the final hours of quitting an extremely stressful job in the US.

We see that we need to improve our health and fitness.  We need to observe ourselves and take an honest introspection to be aware of what we’re doing.  Get your data together.  The more you know the better.

So, results are easily seen with our approach.  Understand that it’s ok not to go 100% all the time.  90+% of our students are the fitness/health/longevity group. The High Performance Group (DP) is there and we love em in their pursuit of competition and peak individual performance.

In Part 2 will summarize many of the key points of why we do what we do and more with actual testimonials from within the ship.

Be Happy, TBear
