Do you make a fool of yourself?

One of the biggest things that holds many of us back is our fear of what people think.  I don’t want to be weird, rude or creepy or too obnoxious and annoying, do you?  But wait — think about the most lovable, energetic and magnetic people you’ve come across in your life.  They are probably the people who were a little crazy,charming and engaging rather than meek, boring and agreeable.  I know people who blurt out silly inappropriate things, and have made huge, foot in your mouth mistakes, and those who were over the top most of the time (enter your names here), but we all forgive them for being less than perfect and we liked them for their entertaining character.  I think we could all stretch more and lessen our concern for what people think of you/us.

We should get into situations outside our comfort zone where we feel more vulnerable.
People usually like you more for it because it makes you a more exciting person to be around. Do something you normally wouldn’t do for fear of looking like an idiot. Be an idiot every once and a while, you’ll be fine.

So ask yourself – do you face your fears? 

There are the big fears, such as public speaking, performing in-front of cameras, heights, spiders and anything creepy and crawly, but there are also hundreds of subtle fears we avoid every day. Like the fear of the high the box jump, avoiding the circle question or even trying a forward roll in front of the class. And many things bigger like singing, dancing and trying to lip-sync.  Are they really worth stepping around?  Some – Yes,  but it’s bad to let a significant portion of your life devoted to averting things that never happen — you know those little things that could turn into adventures, funny stories and some back and forth lip sync battles with your buddies.

But ya gotta allow yourself to deal with a little discomfort.
