Coach Development
Purpose:
The purpose of developing coaches systematically through our coach development process is to professionalize the fitness industry.
Our mandate is threefold:
- Get students more fit than they have ever been and keep them fit for the rest of their lives
- Train apprentice coaches and business owners to become independent entrepreneurs and excellent at their profession
- Increase revenue per hour worked so fitness trainers earn comparable wages to other professionals (comparable wages to lawyers, engineers, accountants)
Quick Program Overview:
Once students reach our fitness benchmarks and become competent in the 30-40 movements of CrossFit, they become eligible to become an apprentice coach.
As a Junior apprentice, students start out by shadowing senior coaches during group classes and personal training sessions.
After shadowing three cycles of 15 personal training sessions with three different individuals or groups of individuals, apprentice coaches will graduate to a Senior B level apprentice start working with their own students. As a Senior A apprentice, the Senior coach will continue to oversee each training session.
Once an apprentice has 10 students of his own, he will become a Senior B apprentice, at which point he is ready to work with students on his own. When he has 25 student of his own, and he passes 5 written exams, he will be eligible to graduate to an Associate Coach.
By the end of the program, apprentice coaches will be self-sufficient entrepreneurs and strength and conditioning professionals with practical knowledge in the areas of CrossFit, anatomy, exercise physiology, mobility, injury prevention and nutrition.
