Audrey is Patty’s saintly wife. After falling in love in six days back in 2011, the two were engaged within six months. A year later, in the fall of 2012, Audrey began her apprenticeship in the early mornings under Andy.

On top of coaching, Audrey is involved in corporate sales and business development, as well as single-handedly developing our not-for-profit organization in honour of Lt. Andrew ‘Nutts’ Nuttall, our beloved former coach, who lost his life fighting for our country in Afghanistan.

A former real estate agent, Audrey is one of those people you meet that you can’t possibly say anything bad about. But don’t mistake this for being a push-over. She has an uncanny ability to simultaneously be the sweetest and the feistiest person you’ll ever meet.

Audrey is also a professional trumpet player, who works part-time with the symphony.

Rob is an apprentice coach under T-Bear. Always smiling, Rob brings a tremendous amount of energy whenever he’s in the room.

Like many of CrossFit Vancouver’s apprentice coaches, Rob was a long-time member before he began his apprenticeship in 2012.

He is also known for making the best vodka-lemonade in the city, a talent he hones at every one of the school’s social events, when he sets up his bar and starts mixing his delicious drinks; hence his nickname ‘Lemonade Rob.’

Rhea started training at CrossFit Vancouver in 2010. A former fine arts student at Emily Carr, Rhea is a physical specimen who works as a full-time Fire Fighter for the City of Vancouver. Prior to that, Rhea was a Rapattack fire fighter.

Always impressing all the men around the fire hall with her physical fitness, it only made sense for Rhea to jump on board and learn how to coach as well. She began her journey as an Apprentice Coach in the fall of 2012.

Nathan is another one of the school’s engineers. After working long days, he spends his evenings coaching, working alongside Charlie.

Nathan was homeschooled as a kid, which might explain why he is socially awkward when you first meet him. But over the months, he has opened up and has given us a chance to get to know the quirky dude that he is.

On top of being an engineer, he’s a talented musician and a former competitive ballroom dancer. His father is a preacher, and Nathan plans to complete his Master’s Degree in Theology at some point in the future.

When Dan arrived at CrossFit Vancouver, he was a slim endurance athlete training for an Ironman. He was also weak as a kitten.

Once the Ironman was over, he decided to turn his attention to CrossFit and today is one of the strongest, most powerful, most technically-sound men at the school. He competed for CrossFit Vancouver at the CrossFit Games in 2011 and at the Canada West Regional in 2012.

Not only has his tremendous physical growth been witnessed by everyone at CrossFit Vancouver, his emotional growth has been pretty dramatic as well. He came in shy, closed off, and politically correct. Today, he has opened up to everyone, and a truly unique, real person shines through.

His loyalty and commitment to the school, as well as his technical knowledge of the sport is unmatched. As a Senior Apprentice Coach, Dan coaches in the early mornings, then takes off to work as an engineer during the day, and returns in the evenings to do his own training.

After spending a couple years in the often destructive bartending industry, Chest had had enough of the endlessly long nights pounding beer and fried food. He said goodbye to Yaletown Brew Pub and began a personal rehab, eventually making his way to CrossFit Vancouver, where today he is a Senior Apprentice Coach.

“Sex, drugs, and disposable income turned to fitness, fitness into what made sense, sense into CrossFit,” said Chest.

Chest can be described in one word: Relentless. From his patience and diligence with his own students, to his willingness to put in the hours and help around the school, he’s been caught pulling all nighters and sleeping on the couch in the lounge on more than one occasion. This has led to rumours that he may, in fact, live at CrossFit Vancouver.

The charming Chest simply loves coaching, and loves helping people get back on track, the way he did with his own life. “CrossFit has given me the best set of tools to continue my growth as a coach and become an amazing athlete, not to mention an ever-growing and improving physique to complement my handsome face and charm,” he added.

As an apprentice coach, Chest is rapidly rising through the ranks and is becoming one of the mobility guru around the school.

Pete discovered CrossFit in the spring of 2009 – shortly after he immigrated to Canada from Ireland – and became utterly addicted to his new passion.

CrossFit Vancouver gave him a new family in his new country. And in return, Pete immediately started charming the pants off his new community. He’s just the kind of guy everyone wants to hang out with.

Like many of our other apprentice coaches, Pete has another full-time job (he works in software sales); however, he devotes time in the evenings to help coach group classes.

Jordy is a former professional lacrosse player who has been involved in fitness for as long as he can remember. He might look scary and intimidating, but spend one minute with him and the intimidation factor melts away. Jordy really is one of the kindest, most genuine coaches at the school.

He discovered CrossFit through Ben ‘Bumpy’ and immediately became part of the family. “I just love the camaraderie,” explained Jordy.

On top of being an apprentice coach in the evenings under Charlie, Jordy also runs East Van Barbell Club with Ben, which has been a huge success in helping people gain strength, as well as adding variety to the regular CrossFit program.
